I WANT TO GO TO HEAVEN

A good friend by the name of Betty Johnston wrote the chorus of this song, and I wrote the verses in 1997. I pray the words will touch your heart as it did those of our congregation whenever we sang it for them.

Listen to the tune
CHORUS:

I want to go to heaven when I bid this world good-by.
I want to see my Savior over there.
I'll see my friends and loved ones in that sweet by and by.
Yes, I want to go to heaven when I die.

VERSE 1.

I lived my life the way I wanted, never thought about my soul.
I cared naught for heaven's treasures, but found nothing could make me whole.
And then Jesus touched my sin-filled heart. He drew me to His side.
And now I want to go to heaven when I die.

CHORUS:

I want to go to heaven when I bid this world good-by.
I want to see my Savior over there.
I'll see my friends and loved ones in that sweet by and by.
Yes, I want to go to heaven when I die.

VERSE 2.

Now I'm looking for his coming, going to meet Him in the air.
He'll bring all the saints home with Him, I'm so glad that I'll be there.
If you've not made Him your Savior, "Please come," He gently cries.
Then you'll surely go to Heaven when you die.

CHORUS:

Don't you want to go to heaven when you bid this world good-by?
Don't you want to see your Savior over there?
You'll see your friends and loved ones in that sweet by and by.
Yes, I want to go to heaven when I die.
